This absence has made it challenging for employers to attract and retain skilled zoning professionals, while also making it difficult for employees to meet job requirements tailored to this unique position. Zoning officials play an essential role in interpreting complex by-laws and working in tandem with both building and planning departments—a responsibility that grows as communities evolve and regulations become more nuanced.
